Iran summons French ambassador over protests, calls for respect of student rights
Iran summoned the French ambassador in Tehran for a reprimand, following what it described as violent suppression of high school student protests in France and widespread human rights violations. The Iranian Foreign Ministry called on France to respect fundamental rights, including the right to peaceful and non-violent assembly. According to the French Interior Ministry, 256,000 demonstrators participated in protests across France today, with 56,000 in Paris.
