Iran Orders Tanker to Turn Back in Hormuz

A commercial vessel was hailed by Revolutionary Guards and ordered to reverse course under threat of attack, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations

The Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hailed a commercial tanker traveling through the Strait of Hormuz and ordered the vessel to reverse course or face targeting, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations. The vessel's master confirmed compliance with the order, UK authorities stated.

The incident occurred 11 nautical miles north of Khasab, Oman, and authorities are investigating. The confrontation marks the latest sign of Tehran testing its grip on the strategic waterway. Regional tensions remain elevated following warnings from Iran's military chief that a third conflict would trigger harsher retaliation.
