Israel's National Security Council, which assesses threat levels for Israeli citizens worldwide, has issued a severe warning ahead of October 7, citing heightened risk of attacks inspired by the anniversary of the massacre.
According to the alert published by the National Security Council and the Foreign Ministry, there is a real and elevated risk of attempted attacks across a range of targets around the world, driven by efforts to echo the date of the southern massacre through copycat terror.
The Council stated that "there is an elevated risk of attempted attacks against Israelis and Jews abroad, alongside demonstrations and public disorder. Terror organizations, led by Iran and its proxies, Hamas and global jihad elements, view this date as a significant milestone."
As part of the warning, the Prime Minister's Office provided steps to increase security and reduce the chance of harm, as well as travel bans to certain countries. The public is asked to:
* Avoid posting in advance on social media about travel abroad.
* Avoid travel to destinations under Level 4 travel warning: Jordan, Qatar, Somaliland and Egypt, including the Sinai Peninsula.
* In Level 3 destinations, minimize speaking Hebrew in crowded public places.
* Stay away from demonstrations and gatherings.
* Not post content on social media indicating service in the security forces.
* In an emergency, contact local security forces first.
