Israeli Actress Deletes Fauda Star Tribute After Backlash

Israeli actress Lihi Kornowski posted a glowing tribute Tuesday evening to Ala Dakka, the Arab-Israeli actor known for his roles in the hit series "Fauda" and "Taagad." The praise, however, quickly drew sharp criticism from social media users who pointed to Dakka's controversial statements during Israel's recent military confrontation with Iran.

Kornowski's post described Dakka as "an exceptionally rare person, kind-hearted, hilarious, with truly unique singing and acting abilities." The warm words did not go unnoticed, and within a short time, followers began responding with pointed criticism of her decision to publicly celebrate an actor whose wartime comments had sparked significant controversy in Israel.

Dakka had drawn widespread attention during the conflict with Iran when he criticized Israelis celebrating the destruction caused by strikes on Tehran. "How much can you celebrate the destruction of Tehran?" he wrote in a social media post that ignited heated debate.

He continued his criticism, writing: "How much emptiness is there in this place that it fills up so quickly from destruction in distant places in the world? What is this sickness?" He also criticized what he perceived as a lack of voices questioning Israel's conduct during the military operations.

His remarks at the time generated intense reactions across Israeli social media, with supporters defending his right to express dissent while critics attacked him sharply for what they viewed as insensitivity during wartime.

Following the wave of critical responses to her tribute, Kornowski deleted the post from her social media feed. The message no longer appears on her page, though the controversy it sparked continued to circulate online.
