Minneapolis police executed a search warrant at an apartment shared by Adnan Omar, the son of US Representative Ilhan Omar, recovering multiple firearms and ammunition during the operation. Law enforcement officers initiated the search on Tuesday night following an earlier traffic stop in the city. Minneapolis Police Department officials confirmed that officers seized weapons from the residence and arrested 22 year old Abdulrahman Abdi, who shares the apartment with Omar.

The sequence of events began earlier on Tuesday when police officers conducted a routine traffic stop involving Abdi. Officers cited him for driving without proof of insurance or a valid driver's license, allowing him to leave the scene while arranging for the vehicle to be impounded. During the subsequent vehicle inventory inspection, law enforcement personnel located a firearm inside the car.

Following the discovery of the weapon, law enforcement officers tracked Abdi to an apartment building located on Marquette Avenue in Minneapolis. Officers executed a search warrant at the home shared by Abdi and Adnan Omar, securing the location and making an arrest without further incident. Inside the residence, investigators recovered additional firearms and ammunition.

Abdi was booked into Hennepin County Jail on a pending weapons charge and was released on Wednesday night, according to public law enforcement records. Minneapolis Police Department representatives stated that Abdi was the sole individual taken into custody during the operation and that Congresswoman Omar's son was not arrested or charged. Representatives for Congresswoman Omar have not yet issued a formal public statement regarding the police action or the ongoing investigation.
