Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu displayed a Starlink satellite internet device during his UN General Assembly address Thursday, stating that Iran's rulers fear their own citizens, according to the UN webcast.
"I'll tell you who is afraid: the tyrants of Tehran, that's who. And you know what they're most afraid of? Their own people," Netanyahu declared. He explained that the technology enables Iranians "to access truth, to exercise choice, to exercise freedom of thought and freedom of speech." The prime minister said he would leave the device for the Iranian delegation, adding that "when they inevitably defect, they too will be able to freely tell their story on social media."
The gesture underscores Israel's broader campaign to highlight Tehran's information control as the regime continues to sentence dissidents to death for online criticism of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
