A brief but intriguing video filmed over Tehran has gone viral in recent days after capturing an unidentified object appearing in the Iranian capital's skies surrounded by a row of colorful lights. Instead of a stealth aircraft slipping through the darkness, viewers witnessed what looked almost like a small light show in the night sky.
The footage was recorded near the Azadegan Highway in Tehran around 7:30 PM. The video shows lights in various colors, white, blue, green, red, and orange, arranged in an arc and moving through the night sky.
The clip spread rapidly across social media, and within a short time users began trying to figure out exactly what they were seeing. Some claimed it was a drone, others raised the possibility of a different type of aircraft, and the suggestion was even floated that it might be a kite fitted with lights.
Iranian authorities have not provided an official explanation for the phenomenon. No data has been released that would allow determination of the object's altitude, its distance from the camera, the speed at which it was moving, or even its dimensions.
