The scenario is all too familiar. A sales representative calls, offers a package, promises a certain price or benefit, the deal is closed over the phone, and a few months later, a dispute erupts over what was actually said during the conversation.
A new law passed by the Knesset in July 2026 is designed to address exactly these situations. Starting March 22, 2027, subject to a limited postponement option built into the legislation, businesses in sectors covered by the regulation will be required to record certain calls with consumers, retain the recordings, and provide them upon customer request.
The obligation applies when the total transaction price reaches ₪750 or more. If the final price is not yet known at the time of the call, the law treats the transaction as if it exceeds the threshold.
