New York Governor declares state disaster emergency over measles outbreak

Governor Kathy Hochul declared a statewide disaster emergency in New York due to a measles outbreak. The state has recorded 108 cases in 2025, with 92 reported since July 15 across 18 counties. Pennsylvania has experienced a larger outbreak with 977 cases and 5 deaths, including cases in rural counties bordering New York.
