North Korea test-fires submarine-launched cruise missiles from Sea of Japan

North Korea launched two types of submarine-launched cruise missiles from a submerged submarine in the Sea of Japan. One missile was fired from a vertical launch system, the other from a torpedo tube. The test marked the first weapons launch from the Hero Kim Kun Ok, North Korea's largest submarine, which was commissioned in 2023. South Korea's military monitored both launches from beginning to end.
