Israel's security establishment has raised its alert level to the highest point in months as intelligence assessments point to a possible Iranian attack, military analyst Yosef Yehoshua reported. The IDF is now preparing to return to full combat operations on the shortest possible notice.
But Yehoshua, citing conversations with senior defense officials, said Prime Minister Netanyahu is not pushing for an Israeli-initiated strike before the upcoming elections. "From my discussions with figures in the security establishment, it emerges that Netanyahu is not driving toward a pre-emptive attack on Iran ahead of the elections, he is not eager for such a move," Yehoshua said.
The analyst added that if fighting does resume at high intensity, the assessment within the defense establishment is that any Israeli operation would be carried out in full coordination and cooperation with the American administration.
