Russia refuses to extradite Assad to Syria, calls asylum "irrevocable"

Russia will not hand over former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko stated, describing the asylum granted to Assad as "irrevocable." A Syrian court sentenced Assad to death in absentia in August on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
