A three-year-old girl has died in Jerusalem following a two-week medical struggle after choking on a grape at her home in the Ramot neighborhood. Yael Rivka Betzalel passed away at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where she had been in critical condition since the incident.
The choking occurred approximately two weeks ago when the toddler was eating grapes at home. Emergency medical teams from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom were quickly dispatched to the family's residence. Paramedics and EMTs immediately began performing advanced resuscitation procedures on the child. During the emergency response, a paramedic successfully extracted a grape that had blocked the child's airway. She was then rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in critical condition, sedated and on a ventilator, while resuscitation efforts continued.
