U.S. President Donald Trump has on multiple occasions suggested he might seek a third term in office, despite the U.S. Constitution's 22nd Amendment, which limits any individual to serving as president for a maximum of two terms.
At recent rallies, Trump has received encouragement from crowds chanting "2028" — a reference to the next presidential election year — as he stands on stage.
When asked directly on Tuesday whether he genuinely intends to pursue another campaign after previously dropping hints on the subject, Trump offered a typically evasive answer.
"Everyone asks me that question," the president said. "But the law is very strong on this."
He continued: "I would really like to run, but the law is very strong. People ask me all the time, even tonight here in the back they were shouting 2028, everyone wants me to do it but the law is very strong," Trump stated.
