President Donald Trump confirmed Monday that the United States withdrew its B-1 bomber squadron from RAF Fairford in Britain due to "some threats" against the base, marking the first direct White House acknowledgment that security concerns drove the evacuation, a development that signals Tehran's expanding campaign to target American military assets supporting operations against Iranian proxies across the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters as he departed for Nebraska, Trump stated that Washington "actually knows the people that made the threat" but declined to identify them, according to the BBC. "Rather than tempting the enemy, we'll capture the enemy and beat the enemy," the president declared. The Pentagon confirmed Sunday it had removed the bombers, believed to number about a dozen B-1 Lancers, from the Gloucestershire base back to their home stations in America.

Vice President J.D. Vance told reporters the withdrawal was carried out "out of an abundance of caution" and pointed directly at Tehran, stating that "Iran is doing what it has done for 49 years, which is engage in acts of terrorism against the US and against a lot of other people," the BBC reported. Secretary of State Marco Rubio declined to directly link last week's incident near the base to the bomber evacuation, telling reporters he would not "attach special significance" to what he characterized as routine redeployment.

For Israel and the Jewish world watching the US-Iran confrontation, the Fairford incident reveals Tehran's willingness to strike American strategic assets on allied soil. RAF Fairford serves as a critical staging point for US bombers operating in the Middle East theater, where American forces support operations against Iranian proxies including the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The withdrawal follows a major counter-terrorism investigation launched after police responded to reports of three suspicious vehicles near RAF Fairford on September 27. Five men were initially arrested on suspicion of terror offences and subsequently released on bail. A sixth suspect, a 25-year-old dual British-Iranian national, was arrested in Westminster and also released on bail, as JFeed reported.

Trump publicly criticized British authorities for releasing the suspects on bail. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicky Evans of Britain's Counter Terrorism Command stated that investigators are examining "all possible angles, including the involvement of a foreign state," according to JFeed's previous reporting.

The timing adds pressure to an already volatile regional picture. Iran seized an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend, according to state-linked Fars News, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forced another commercial vessel to reverse course under threat of attack earlier this month, as JFeed reported. The New York Times revealed Sunday that more than 200 American intelligence analysts are working inside Saudi command centers selecting targets for forces fighting the Iranian-backed Houthis.

A Downing Street spokesperson insisted Monday that RAF Fairford remains safe and pointed to Trump's praise last week for British "police, defence and security services," according to the BBC. Whitehall sources have not disputed that the bomber withdrawal was a response to the Gloucestershire incident, the BBC reported.
