President Donald Trump plans to convene a meeting next Tuesday in New York with leaders of Gulf states, focusing on the war with Iran and the steps to be taken in the region after its conclusion.
Axios reported the development overnight, citing three sources familiar with the details.
According to the report, the meeting will take place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and is expected to include leaders or foreign ministers from all six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.
The U.S. State Department has already begun sending invitations to participants. Leaders from additional Arab and Muslim countries may join the gathering later.
