The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated three Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon who were actively attempting to launch explosive drones at Israeli troops, the military announced Monday.
IDF forces operating in the region also uncovered a weapons cache containing rockets and additional explosive drones rigged and ready for immediate launch.
The engagement, which took place on Sunday, unfolded as forces from the Givati Brigade, operating under the command of the 36th Division, expanded operations targeting Hezbollah infrastructure north of the Litani River.
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, Israeli Air Force drone operators quickly spotted the three Hezbollah operatives preparing the explosive UAVs. In a rapid closing of the sensor-to-shooter cycle, the remotely piloted aircraft tracked the operatives as they attempted to flee the scene and eliminated them in a series of precision airstrikes.
Following the strikes, ground troops conducted targeted sweeps of the immediate area. During the searches, soldiers uncovered a concealed weapons depot packed with rockets and explosive-laden drones intended for use against Israeli forces.
The military subsequently targeted the depot, triggering powerful secondary explosions that confirmed the presence of a large volume of stored munitions.
