Three Dead in East Jerusalem Violence: Family Dispute Ends in Fatal Shooting

A violent family dispute in East Jerusalem's Silwan neighborhood escalated into a deadly incident overnight Saturday, leaving three people dead, one murdered and two suspects fatally shot by Israeli Border Police officers.

According to police reports, the incident began as a violent confrontation between families in the neighborhood. Officers were dispatched to the scene following initial reports of violence. Two injured individuals were evacuated to a hospital, where a man in his 30s was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The second victim was transported in critical condition.

Magen David Adom paramedics Moti Glushtein and Zohar Maman described the difficult scene they encountered: "We treated a man around 30 years old who was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with severe penetrating injuries to his body. We performed medical checks but could only pronounce him dead. Another injured person was evacuated from the scene in critical condition."

Following the murder, the situation in Silwan deteriorated rapidly. Police reported that suspects fired live ammunition, launched fireworks, and threw firebombs during violent riots. Large police forces, including Border Police units, were rushed to the area to restore public order and locate the suspects.

Police stated that during operational activity, officers identified two suspects who posed an immediate threat to their lives while holding sharp weapons and firebombs. The forces opened fire to neutralize the danger, and both suspects were pronounced dead at the scene. Additional police units were called in and order was restored.

Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Avsalom Peled arrived at the scene and conducted a special situation assessment with unit commanders and officers who operated there. During the assessment, Peled praised the determination and swift response of the officers in confronting the suspects who had endangered their lives.
