Incitement Investigation

Arrested for Inciting Murder of MK Abbas

It's a mitzvah to murder him: 49-year-old from Qalansuwa detained after Facebook post calling for assassination of Ra'am party leader

Mansour Abbas

A 49-year-old Israeli Arab from Qalansuwa has been arrested on suspicion of inciting the murder of Knesset member Mansour Abbas, according to a report by Lee Ayesh.

The suspect was taken into custody after allegedly writing on Facebook: "Mansour Abbas is a pig, son of a pig, it's a mitzvah to murder him." The investigation was launched following a complaint filed by the Knesset security officer.

During questioning, the suspect claimed he did not intend to call for murder, but rather meant to "beat him up" or ignore him. He has previous convictions for incitement offenses, identification with a terrorist organization, and making threats. His detention was extended until tomorrow.

Abbas, who leads the Ra'am party, is widely viewed as a "traitor" and "collaborator" with Israel among segments of the Arab population in Israel, with many calling to boycott him.
