US CENTCOM refutes Iranian claims, says IRGC projectile sank Singapore-flagged ship in Strait of Hormuz
US Central Command countered three Iranian claims made in the past 24 hours. CENTCOM stated that the container ship M/V GFS Pride was struck by an IRGC projectile, not a naval mine as Iran claimed, and sank while being towed to shore. The US military said it and regional partners control the Strait of Hormuz, with over 40 commercial ships transiting in the last 24 hours despite the attack. CENTCOM also rejected IRGC claims of killing hundreds of US service members in Jordan, stating three American service members were killed in July while defending against Iranian attacks.
