US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced overnight Sunday that Washington is entering the final phase of its economic campaign against Iran, ahead of comprehensive sanctions the administration plans to impose on Tehran. In a statement, Besent said President Trump has dismantled Iran's military capabilities, destroying nearly all of its weapons manufacturing facilities and burying its nuclear program, leaving the Iranian regime at its weakest point.

Scott Besent declares unprecedented financial offensive as Washington prepares comprehensive sanctions targeting Tehran's remaining economic lifelines
Bessent outlined what he termed an "Economic D-Day", an unprecedented financial assault set to begin at dawn. "We are now entering the final stage. At first light, Economic D-Day will commence, the largest financial offensive ever launched against an adversary," the Treasury Secretary announced. He warned countries worldwide against attempting to assist Iran, stating that those concerned about the dangers of defying Tehran "should not underestimate the cost of defying Washington."
"Our goal is to sever every economic lifeline sustaining the tyrannical regime until Tehran stands alone," he said.
Last week, President Trump announced a campaign of complete economic isolation against Iran, threatening secondary sanctions against any nation that aids Tehran. In a statement posted on Truth Social, he made it clear that the economic campaign would be on a scale never before seen.
