"A Humiliating Surrender": Hezbollah Leader Demands Immediate End to Peace Talks
Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem has issued a fiery condemnation of the Lebanese government's decision to hold direct talks with Israel, labeling the move a national humiliation and threatening to kidnap Israeli troops.

Hezbollah’s leadership has launched a blistering verbal assault against the Lebanese government as direct negotiations between Beirut and Jerusalem prepare to open in Washington. In a televised address, Naim Qassem, the successor to Hassan Nasrallah, described the upcoming talks as a "humiliating surrender" and a betrayal of the national resistance. Qassem’s rhetoric has intensified fears of internal civil unrest within Lebanon, as security forces in Beirut have been placed on high alert to prevent clashes between government supporters and Hezbollah loyalists who oppose any peaceful settlement with the Jewish state.
Threats of Kidnapping and Sabotage
Qassem specifically targeted the stated goals of the negotiations, which include the disarmament of Hezbollah and the demilitarization of southern Lebanon. "How can you go to a negotiation where the Israeli ambassador, Yehiel Leiter, says this clearly and Netanyahu repeats it?" Qassem asked, arguing that the government is walking into a trap designed to strip the country of its strength. He issued a direct military threat, stating that Hezbollah has prepared itself in "silence and secrecy" and intends to turn the war into a "game of cat and mouse." Most alarmingly, he vowed that when the opportunity arises, his fighters will move to "capture enemy soldiers" to disrupt the diplomatic process.
The internal pressure in Lebanon is reaching a breaking point as the government attempts to separate its national fate from the Iranian agenda. Official sources in Beirut have stated that Iran will no longer be allowed to dictate the country’s security policy, a move that Hezbollah views as an existential threat. While government representatives prepare to meet with Israeli diplomats to discuss a permanent ceasefire and border security, Hezbollah’s political council has warned that the leadership is taking the country to "perdition." With the threat of kidnapping now looming over the border, the IDF has increased its vigilance to ensure that any attempt to sabotage the peace talks through terror is met with a swift and decisive response.
