The IDF launched a wave of strikes in southern Lebanon on Monday morning, warning northern Israeli communities that explosions would be heard across the region for several hours.

The Upper Galilee Regional Council told residents that the military had opened a series of strikes in Lebanon and that the operation was expected to continue for several hours. The council said there was no change to Home Front Command instructions for civilians.

Residents were told that the sound of explosions could be heard throughout the area as the strikes continued.

According to reports from Lebanon, Israeli strikes targeted several locations in southern Lebanon, including Kfartebnit, Touline, Yahmar Al-Shaqif, Choukine, Aabba and Toul.

The strikes come amid continued tensions along the northern border, where Hezbollah has repeatedly violated the ceasefire with Israel and continued efforts to rebuild its military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Israel has carried out regular strikes against Hezbollah weapons depots, launch sites, command positions and operatives, while warning that the terrorist organization must not be allowed to restore the threat it posed to northern communities before the war.

The latest wave of strikes follows several recent Israeli operations against Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, including the killing of Ahmad Ghaleb Balout, the commander of the elite unit, in a targeted strike in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district last week. The IDF said Balout had directed attacks against Israeli troops and was involved in efforts to rebuild the Radwan Force’s capabilities.

Northern communities have faced repeated alerts in recent weeks, including from UAV launches, rockets and other aerial threats from Lebanon. The IDF has also adjusted shelter warning times for dozens of communities in the north, extending the time residents have to reach protected spaces after a siren in several areas.

There were no immediate reports of changes to civilian restrictions following Monday’s strikes. Local authorities said they would continue updating residents if instructions from the IDF or Home Front Command changed.
