As the war continues to devastate the region, the Iranian regime is reportedly resorting to massive financial bribes to maintain its grip on Lebanon. According to reports from the Saudi Al-Hadath channel, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) has identified a significant rise in domestic resentment among the Lebanese people toward Hezbollah. This shift in public opinion is driven by the destruction caused by the war and a growing rejection of Hezbollah’s independent arsenal. In response, Tehran has allegedly launched a massive clandestine funding operation aimed at Lebanese politicians and media figures, tasked with launching PR campaigns to praise Iran and justify the continued existence of the terrorist group’s weapons.

Fabricating Support

The IRGC's move highlights a deep sense of insecurity within the Iranian leadership regarding their most important regional proxy. The report indicates that the regime "senses unrest among the Lebanese against Hezbollah's weapons and a decrease in support for Iran." To counter this, the funded campaigns are designed to flood the Lebanese information space with pro Iranian narratives, attempting to drown out the voices of those calling for the Lebanese state to reclaim its sovereignty from the terrorist organization. This strategy of buying influence is a long standing tactic of the Iranian regime, but its current intensity suggests that the popular "thaw" or resistance to Iranian influence in Beirut is becoming a genuine threat to Tehran's regional strategy.
