US, Iran Extend Ceasefire – Arab Sources

Senior officials close to negotiations say Washington and Tehran have reached an understanding to prolong the truce that was set to expire imminently

Mojtaba Khamenei

The United States and Iran have reached an agreement to extend their 60-day ceasefire beyond its scheduled expiration, according to senior officials in Arab states with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Saudi newspaper Al Arabiya reported that Washington and Tehran agreed to renew and prolong the truce between the two countries, which had been due to lapse as early as tonight. The ceasefire was originally established as part of an understanding document between the parties.

While no official confirmation has been issued by either government, senior sources close to the diplomatic talks maintain that the sides have reached terms on the extension. These sources declined to provide additional details about the agreement.
