Behind Bars with a Killer: Fox Nation Drops Gripping New ‘Carlos the Jackal’ Adaptation
The three-part documentary, adapted from Israel's Kan 11 by creator Yaron Niski and hosted by Jack Carr, features 11 hours of exclusive prison interviews.
An American adaptation of the acclaimed Israeli documentary series "Carlos the Jackal" premiered Monday on Fox Nation, the streaming service owned by Fox News.
Originally produced for Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan 11, the new three-part iteration was re-shot and helmed by the original Israeli series creator, Yaron Niski. The U.S. version features author and former Navy SEAL commander Jack Carr, best known for writing The Terminal List, as the series host.
Behind the Prison Walls
The series offers a chilling, intimate look into the life of Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, the Venezuelan-born militant widely known as "Carlos the Jackal," who became one of the 20th century's most infamous international terrorists.
The backbone of the documentary relies on highly exclusive audio recordings captured during a complex investigative process. The creators managed to log 11 hours of audio interviews with Carlos, meticulously recorded via brief phone calls placed from his high-security prison cell in France.
In the recordings, Carlos recounts his history as a global mercenary, details his operational ties with various international militant networks, and openly voices support for Hezbollah. Reflecting on his bloody legacy, he pointedly remarks that his only regret is "not killing more people."
"Carlos the Jackal is currently serving three consecutive life sentences in France for murder and terror attacks that killed and injured dozens."
From Kan 11 to Fox Nation
The original documentary series debuted on Kan 11 and its digital platform, Kan Box, two years ago. For the American market, the production pivot brings in Carr to guide viewers through the international manhunt, weaving together the rare prison phone logs alongside new interviews with intelligence officials and high-ranking operatives who spent decades tracking Carlos.
Carlos the Jackal's reign of terror effectively ended in 1994, when he was captured in Sudan and extradited to France by French security services.
The complete three-part docuseries is available to stream now on Fox Nation.
