We Do Not Break
Idan Amedi Honors Wounded Soldiers With Heartwarming New Video | WATCH
On the national day honoring Israel’s wounded soldiers and security personnel, and two years after his own injury, singer Idan Amedi releases a new song titled “Lo Nishbar” (We Do Not Break) a message of hope and resilience dedicated to the men and women who sacrificed body and soul for the homeland.
Amedi, who was severely wounded during the Iron Swords War, released “Lo Nishbar” this morning. He wrote and composed the song himself, dedicating it to the wounded of the IDF and security forces who sacrificed for Israel’s defense. The music video includes documentary footage from rehabilitation centers and hospitals from the past two years.
The chorus opens with determination: “This is not the end, from the crack inside me that opened, a flower and light will grow, I do not break, I do not break.”
From “Anonymous” to Idan Amedi
Idan Amedi was severely wounded on January 7, 2024, during an operational mission in the southern Gaza Strip. An explosion at the entrance to a tunnel claimed the lives of six engineering corps soldiers and wounded others. Amedi, who had been serving in the reserves since the beginning of the war, was evacuated to Sheba Medical Center sedated, ventilated, covered in soot and burns, with shrapnel throughout his body and severe injuries to his face.
At the press conference he held before his release, he said: “I arrived at the hospital burned and covered in soot,” and emphasized the miracle he had experienced. He cried as he spoke about his fallen comrades and said: “I’m sorry I didn’t fulfill my duty as a commander, to bring them home safely. This pain will mark me like a brand until my last day.”
The Path of Rehabilitation
After his release at the end of January 2024, Amedi continued a grueling home-based rehabilitation, including demanding physiotherapy. He shared a graphic photo of his wounded face, writing: “I was born again… A miracle happened to me, but honestly I don’t think I’ll ever really grasp it.”
About a year after the injury, he posted another video and wrote: “Every few days I watch the few videos from the hospital, to remind myself that everything is a miracle.”
Returning to the Stage and to Life
Since the injury, Amedi kept a lower media profile and focused on recovery, but gradually returned to the stage. In February 2025 he launched a new concert tour blending his personal story with his experiences from the war.
He expressed his desire to return to singing, acting, and even fighting again if circumstances allow.
