Israeli defense officials are preparing for the possibility that escalating regional military exchanges between the United States and Iran could draw Israel directly into active combat. Security leaders warned that if Israeli forces are called upon to act alongside American troops, initial counterstrikes will target Iranian national infrastructure and energy facilities.
The warning comes after a series of military strikes across the Middle East, including Iranian missile launches directed toward Jordan that were clearly heard in the southern Israeli city of Eilat. Israeli defense personnel and the United States military are conducting daily situational assessments to continuously update operational targeting plans based on evolving regional intelligence.
United States Central Command confirmed a massive military campaign against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps assets, striking approximately 100 targets across Iran. The operation targeted IRGC air defense networks, radar systems, naval assets, minelaying capabilities, communications hubs, missile launchers, and drone facilities.
The wide-scale action followed a newly authorized American operational doctrine referred to by military planners as "tanker for a tanker." Under this directive, United States forces struck two Iranian state-owned oil tankers in response to Iranian attempts to disrupt commercial shipping lanes and target American service members deployed in the Strait of Hormuz.
"There was a very tough attack last night, and we are ready to carry out another one whenever we want," United States President Donald Trump stated during a press briefing regarding the operations. "We see everything they are doing, they cannot go to the bathroom without us seeing it".
Security analysts caution that mounting economic pressures and naval blockades could push the Iranian leadership to expand their offensive operations to target Israel. "If Israel is required to act alongside the U.S., the counterstrike will be against national infrastructure, energy infrastructure of the Iranians," a senior Israeli official stated.
In response to the volatile conditions, the United States Embassy in Jerusalem and several regional capitals issued formal security alerts to American citizens, warning of potential unexpected escalations, airspace closures, and severe travel disruptions.
While Israel remains outside the direct exchanges between Washington and Tehran for now, defense officials maintain constant coordination with American counterparts. Israeli forces remain on high alert as military commanders monitor Iranian troop movements and prepare for any sudden expansion of the regional war.
