Minutes after the US president posted his endorsement, the prime minister responded: Together we will finish the job!
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded Sunday to US President Donald Trump's endorsement, thanking him for his support ahead of Israel's upcoming election.
"Thank you, President Trump, for the tremendous support and partnership," Netanyahu wrote on social media. "Together we will finish the job!"
Trump announced his backing for Netanyahu in a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform Sunday evening. "Benjamin Netanyahu has been a great fighting Prime Minister, and an even greater partner for Peace in the fight against the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its 51 year old chant, 'Death to Israel, Death to America! We will destroy the Little Satan and the Big Satan,'" the president wrote.
"What Country can survive when statements like this are allowed to be made, because eventually they always come true?" Trump asked. "It was only a matter of time before Iran was going to act on this threatening slogan. However, they have been systematically destroyed, both militarily and economically, and if they don't change their ways quickly, we will soon finish the job."
Trump argued that "if Israel has the wrong leader, meaning anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this job itself, and I have no inclination to do that. Benjamin Netanyahu has been strong, brave, and brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including opposition that came from even within Israel itself. Despite all of this, he held firm, and in fact, thrived!"
"I have watched Bibi during the toughest of times. Ordinary men and women would have collapsed under the pressure in such situations, but Bibi did not collapse. In fact, he only got stronger, and he maintains that same strength today," Trump concluded. "This is the type of partner that the United States of America demands from Israel, a Country that has done so much for them. Please consider this letter my full and complete Endorsement of Benjamin Netanyahu in his upcoming race for re-election as Prime Minister of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu will never let you down!"
