Israeli pop star Noa Kirel is preparing a special recording to mark the memorial for the October 7 massacre, two years after the attack. According to report, Kirel will record the piece together with Israel Defense Forces musical ensembles; the song is described as expressing loss and longing but also contains notes of hope for recovery and return to life.
The project follows Kirel’s previous patriotic release, the “commando anthem” she issued with a military band last year, and is being positioned as a public-facing tribute timed for the annual day of remembrance. The new recording is intended for the lead-up to the October 7 memorial events.
Kirel, who generally avoids explicit political alignments in her public life, has in recent months spoken about the conflict and the question of how to secure the release of hostages. In a broadcast interview on KAN’s morning show hosted by Maya Bezalel and Kuti Sevg, Kirel was asked to choose between “total victory” and “a deal at any price” as the preferred path forward; she answered, without hesitation, “a deal at any price,” adding “we must bring them back” in reference to the hostages.
