Israeli police investigators achieved a significant breakthrough Monday in the case of contaminated baby food products, arresting a man in his 40s from southern Israel on suspicion of introducing sedative drugs into infant food items. The suspect was detained at his home and transferred for questioning by the Lahav 433 unit, Israel's national crime-fighting division, in Jerusalem.
According to police spokesperson statements, the investigation launched by the Jerusalem district continues actively to identify additional suspects and accomplices, while simultaneously examining collected evidence. Investigators are focused on tracing the source of the sedative substances and determining how they were introduced into the products.
