Israeli consumers experienced widespread difficulties completing credit card transactions today after a technical failure disrupted payment processing systems across the country. The malfunction affected retail chains, individual stores, and e-commerce platforms, with numerous transactions declined and purchases left incomplete.
As speculation mounted on social media about a possible cyber-attack targeting Israel's financial infrastructure, Shva—the company that operates Israel's automated banking services and payment clearing systems—issued a statement to calm public concerns. The company confirmed it had identified a partial communications malfunction that briefly impacted routine operations. Shva emphasized that the issue was addressed quickly and that its systems have returned to full normal functionality.
