Channel 12 News reported that six combat soldiers from the Golani Brigade have been removed from operational duty, and two have been sentenced to military prison, following a violent internal incident within a company of the 12th Battalion.

The physical confrontation was reportedly fueled by "seniority tensions" between veteran soldiers and younger recruits and occurred just hours before the unit was scheduled to cross into Lebanon for active combat operations.

Brigade commanders viewed the incident as a severe breach of discipline, especially given the sensitive timing. In a swift response intended to set a hardline precedent, two veteran soldierswere sentenced to military prison and 4 additional soldiers were dismissed from their combat roles and will not participate in the upcoming operational activity in Lebanon.

The IDF Spokesperson issued a statement regarding the disciplinary measures:

"The IDF views any manifestation of violence with utmost gravity and does not tolerate such behavior, particularly during wartime. Exceptional incidents are investigated and handled in accordance with IDF orders and values. The decision to dismiss these soldiers from combat was made based on professional considerations, following standard procedures and under command supervision."

The 12th Battalion of Golani is currently part of the forces operating in the northern sector as tensions with Hezbollah and Iran continue to escalate.
