Israeli security forces have thwarted a Hamas plan to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir using explosive-laden drones, the Shin Bet announced this Wednesday.
The plot was uncovered in recent weeks during a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the IDF in the Hebron area. Several suspects were arrested and remain under interrogation. According to investigators, the cell was directed by Hamas operatives based in Turkey.
“This is another example of Hamas’s efforts to export terror into the heart of Israel,” a senior security official said. “The Shin Bet will continue to thwart any attempt to harm Israeli leaders or citizens.”
Ben-Gvir Responds: “I Will Not Be Afraid”
Following the announcement, Ben-Gvir publicly thanked the security forces for protecting him.
“I thank the Shin Bet, IDF soldiers, police, prison service intelligence, and all those working to protect my life,” the minister said. “I will not be deterred, and I will not be afraid. Hamas has already tried to assassinate me five times, and failed each time.”
He added a warning to the terror group: “The terrorists must know: rather than them striking me, we will strike them, anywhere and anytime.”
