Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir steps away from political duties for family time at an amusement park, while controversy continues over his leadership style.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security and one of the Knesset’s most controversial figures, took a brief pause from his political duties this past weekend, not for negotiations or public appearances, but for family time with his children.
The minister shared a video on the Instagram page of his party, Otzma Yehudit, showing him enjoying a day at the indoor amusement park “Magic Cas” in Ma’ale Adumim.
“Quality time with my sweet children. I promised them that before the end of summer I’d take them, and I kept my promise,” Ben-Gvir wrote.
In a message directed to his son, he added: “Sometimes you go up, sometimes down, but you always have to go in the right direction.”
Ben-Gvir’s break comes amid ongoing scrutiny over his actions in office. A recent police statement praised the head of the Tel Aviv District as “a professional and accomplished officer, performing his duties faithfully day and night.” However, in a Radio 90 interview, Ben-Gvir expressed dissatisfaction with certain officials’ performance, revealing that he sometimes joins local WhatsApp groups anonymously to gather information on residents.
“They don’t know who I am, but I hear and see everything,” he said. “I’m constantly on the ground and constantly receiving reports.”
Despite the controversy surrounding him, the minister’s weekend post offered a rare glimpse into the personal side of a politician often defined by confrontation and debate in Israel’s political landscape.
