The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have elevated their alert status to the highest level across the Gaza Strip, bracing for a potential final, massive barrage of fire from Hamas before the official ceasefire takes effect in approximately seven and a half hours.
Military officials anticipate that Hamas may attempt to "empty its stockpiles" by launching a major wave of rockets and mortars. Several launches have already been reported in recent minutes.
Troops on the ground have been ordered to maintain maximum vigilance amid concerns that the terror group could attempt a symbolic final act. Military intelligence warns that Hamas may seek a "final achievement" on the war's last morning, potentially including a last-minute raid on Israeli defensive positions or a kidnapping attempt.
Despite the heightened threat, the IDF released a statement confirming it "welcomes the achievement of the deal" and announced a multi-front situation assessment will be conducted overnight.
