Within an extensive military effort that will continue for about two months, the IDF is operating in the depths of the Strip with the assistance of five divisions, brigade combat teams, and three infantry brigades: Paratroopers, Nachal, and Kfir. The goal is to topple Hamas rule and damage its military capabilities.

In the north of the Strip, Division 162 operates alongside reserve Division 252 which maintains stability in conquered areas. In the center, Divisions 98 and 36 operate, mainly in the Khan Younis area, from which the population was evacuated, but where terrorists remain above and below ground. In the south, the Gaza Division secures the Philadelphi Corridor and Rafah, where there is almost no civilian population.

Despite the intensive military activity, the IDF emphasizes: Hamas has not yet been broken. The organization still possesses tens of thousands of fighters, many of them hiding in well-armed tunnels, and an arsenal of thousands of rockets and missiles, most of them short-range.

The significant challenge noted by the IDF is the tunnel system. "No one knew how extensive they are, so the battle will require time, resources, and fighters," it was stated. Sources in the IDF estimate that Hamas aspires to a ceasefire – not out of surrender, but for the purpose of rehabilitation. "It has not given up on its goals from October 7," they say.

According to them, Hamas's insurance policy is the hostages. As long as they are in its hands, it will be able to maintain certain control. Therefore, according to the IDF's position, fighting must continue until complete victory.

Since the resumption of fighting after the ceasefire, the IDF has eliminated about 800 terrorists, including 50 senior officials, and attacked about 2,900 targets throughout the Strip.

On the civilian front, the IDF is preparing to expand humanitarian aid: Starting tomorrow, food will be distributed at four centers, one in the center of the Strip and three in the south, for about 1.2 million residents, through an American company.
