Hananel Gez, Who Lost Wife and Baby in Terror Attack, Announces Engagement
In a "victory of life," Hananel Gez, who lost his wife Tzeala and baby Ravid Chaim in a shooting attack, announces his engagement to Maayan in Bruchin.

A wave of emotion and hope swept through the community of Bruchin as Hananel Gez announced his engagement to his partner, Maayan. The news marks a significant milestone in Gez’s journey of recovery following a tragedy that shook the entire nation.
The celebration is deeply intertwined with the memory of a horrific terror attack. Hananel is the widower of Tze'ela Gez, of blessed memory, who was murdered in a targeted shooting attack while the couple was on their way to the hospital for her to give birth.
Terrorists ambushed the family vehicle, cutting Tze'ela's life short at the exact moment she was intended to bring new life into the world.
Following the attack, doctors performed an emergency delivery in an effort to save the couple’s unborn child.
The infant fought for his life in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for two weeks.
During that time, he was given the name Ravid Chaim. The name "Chaim" (Life) was chosen to reflect Tze'ela's personality, a woman known for her optimism, faith, and choosing life.
Despite the heroic efforts of the medical staff, Ravid Chaim passed away after 14 days. His name remained a testament and a "will" for Hananel to continue forward.
The announcement of Hananel’s engagement to Maayan has been met with a warm embrace from the Bruchin community and the wider settlement movement. Neighbors and friends have described Hananel as a man of immense faith and bravery, who has chosen to rise from the depths of brokenness to build a new Jewish home.
