The Haredi public is preparing today (Thursday) for a major unity demonstration at the entrance to Jerusalem, along the main approach roads, Sarei Yisrael, Malchei Yisrael, and Yirmiyahu Streets. The rally is being held in response to the draft decree and the arrest of yeshiva students.

Thousands arrived overnight out of concern that public transportation would be unable to handle the massive influx of participants.

The rally will begin at 2:30 p.m. and feature a special prayer service including Psalms and Selichot, lasting until 4:30 p.m. There will be no speeches, instead, all participants will join together in communal prayer, reciting Psalms verse by verse.

Powerful sound systems have been set up along the entire route to ensure that everyone can clearly hear and participate in the prayers. The prayer leaders will represent the Lithuanian, Sephardi, and Hasidic communities alike.

Senior rabbis began traveling to Jerusalem around 10:00 a.m. and will take their places on balconies along the main route. Some, including major Lithuanian leaders, will be based at the Jeremiah Hotel, Yirmiyahu 33, as a symbolic show of strength for the participants.
