The IDF has announced the establishment of an internal production plant for suicide drones, specifically designed to address the evolving technological battlefield in southern Lebanon and beyond.

The new facility, operating under the Technological and Logistics Directorate (Atal), will be uniquely staffed by approximately 200 Haredi soldiers who will undergo specialized technological training. This initiative marks a significant step in the military's effort to integrate the Haredi community into high tech, essential combat support roles.

The decision to create an independent production line follows the increasing threat posed by First Person View (FPV) racing drones, lethal, low cost suicide drones used extensively by Hezbollah. By manufacturing these systems In the backyard , the IDF aims to transform drone production into a fast, industrial, and cost effective process. Furthermore, the move is intended to ensure a fully "Blue and White" (Israeli made) supply chain, significantly reducing the military's dependence on the current procurement of components from foreign markets, particularly China.

A Revolution in Tactical Munitions

Military officials project that the factory will soon deliver thousands of suicide drones per month, eventually reaching tens of thousands. This surge will provide maneuvering forces with a readily available and inexpensive tactical munition for any mission.

Strategic Response to Hezbollah’s UAV Array

This push is part of a broader strategy to counter Hezbollah’s drones. By deploying its own agile, domestically produced systems, the IDF seeks to close the operational gap while providing Haredi recruits with professional training in a critical field of modern warfare.
