IDF Strikes Gaza Amid US Pressure

IDF Conducts Major Airstrike in Gaza Amid US Pressure to Limit Operations

The Israel Defense Forces carried out an airstrike in the Gaza Strip that resulted in at least seven wounded, according to multiple reports from Gaza. At least one of the injured is said to be in critical condition.

The operation represents a notable escalation compared to recent weeks of relative quiet, and comes as the United States has been pressuring Israel to curtail its military strikes and limit the use of force in Gaza, even against targets believed to have been involved in the October 7 massacre.

Gazan sources report that the strike targeted a location in the Khan Younis area, where Hamas operatives and other militants were suspected to have gathered.

The timing of the strike is particularly significant given that White House advisor Jared Kushner is expected to arrive in Israel this week with the specific aim of persuading Israeli officials to reduce military operations and de-escalate tensions in the coastal territory as much as possible.
