The IDF is expecting a substantial surge in recruitment from the Haredi community, with data presented to Defense Minister Israel Katz showing that roughly 500 young men are slated to enlist in the coming two days. This movement is part of a broader military effort to integrate the Haredi population into the security forces while respecting their specific lifestyle requirements. According to the Manpower Directorate, approximately 300 of these new soldiers will be assigned to combat units, while the remaining 200 will join technology and combat-support roles.

Those entering the combat array will be integrated into several high-profile units. This includes the veteran Netzah Yehuda battalion, whose soldiers are currently operating within the Gaza Strip. Other recruits will head to the "Hashmonaim" Brigade, a new Haredi-focused brigade currently being established to handle regional security. Furthermore, some will join the "Hetz" company within the Paratroopers' 202nd Battalion and the "Palgat HaNegev" unit, which is responsible for defending Air Force bases and protecting the nation's fleet of F-35 stealth fighters at the Nevatim base.

Beyond the front lines, the IDF is also seeing success in recruiting Haredi youth for high-tech positions. Roughly 200 recruits are expected to join the "Kodkod" track within the Intelligence Directorate, as well as various software and cyber roles within the Telecommunications Division. The Air Force is also preparing to absorb new Haredi soldiers into ground crew training programs. These tracks allow recruits to contribute to the nation's security while gaining valuable technical skills that can be used in the civilian workforce.

Military officials noted that these numbers are the result of an extensive effort by the Manpower Directorate to create a diverse range of service options tailored to the Haredi lifestyle. From classic infantry roles to elite technological positions, the IDF is working to provide the necessary infrastructure and cultural support to make the transition successful. Adjustments have been made at the "Meitav" recruitment center, including specialized infrastructure and staff, to ensure that the absorption process is efficient and welcoming for the new recruits.
