IDF prepares to detain many terrorists during ground operation

As part of Operation "Chariots of Gideon," the IDF is carrying out an expanded entry into the Gaza Strip territory, and this evening (Monday) it was reported that the IDF is preparing to detain a large number of Hamas terrorists, and has even prepared logistically for this purpose, according to a report by journalist Yinon Magal on i24news.

According to the publication, the IDF has decided to expand the reserve recruitment system for the military police, and is also preparing for extensive reserve recruitment in the IDF in order to succeed in guarding all the many terrorists who will be detained from Hamas captivity in Gaza, during the coming period.

These are the facilities that the IDF is expected to use: A prisoner facility that was opened for detaining terrorists captured from Hezbollah in Lebanon, which was closed during recent months. In addition, they will transfer detainees from IDF detention facilities to the Israel Prison Service, in order to free up detention spaces in the IDF.

The IDF spokesperson said that: "In light of IDF activity in the Gaza Strip and the expectation of receiving additional detainees, the IDF is conducting advance preparations regarding detention facilities for detainees. The national responsibility for detaining security prisoners lies under the Israel Prison Service. In light of gaps in the absorption capacity for enemy detainees in the Prison Service, organizational processes and force building are being carried out to support the operational need for security arrests."
