"We Are Not Safe": Noam Amir Slams IDF Lack of Transparency Amid Surge in Missile Hits

"Stop telling stories." Military analyst Noam Amir calls out the IDF for a lack of transparency as Iranian and Hezbollah missiles bypass Israel's "excellent" defenses. Amir warns that the enemy is learning and that Israel is no longer hermetically sealed.

Prominent military correspondent Noam Amir has issued a sharp critique of the IDF’s recent conduct, accusing the military of failing to provide the public with honest answers regarding the recent surge in successful missile impacts across Israel.

Amir noted that while the IDF has spent years "marketing" its air defense systems as nearly flawless, the reality of the past several days, marked by direct hits, multiple destruction sites, and rising casualties, presents a starkly different picture.

"The military refuses to answer why systems that normally work well are suddenly failing," Amir stated. He specifically addressed rumors circulating on social media regarding the failure of a U.S.-supplied defense system (THAAD), dismissing the reports as "fake news" and urging the public not to look for scapegoats in foreign technology.

According to Amir, the issue lies in the lack of transparency from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. "A system that needs to provide public trust cannot operate with a lack of transparency," he warned.

Amir challenged the official excuses often provided for interception failures, such as weather conditions or specific launch locations. He argued that the truth is more uncomfortable: the enemy (referring to the Iranian-led axis) is evolving.

"Let’s tell the truth: the other side is learning, developing, drawing lessons, and achieving results," Amir said. "We are not hermetic, and we are not protected."

The analyst highlighted the frustration of residents in southern and central Israel, who saw schools reopened and restrictions lifted, only to have the economy shut down again yesterday as Home Front Command directives were abruptly tightened.

Amir concluded with a warning to the public and his fellow journalists: "Be skeptical of the information you receive from the military... and even of what we, the military correspondents, tell you when we are just repeating what the army sells us. Transparency is the basis of the relationship between the IDF and the public."
