The Terrorist Thought He Could Hide in a Classroom. Unit 334 Thought Otherwise
In a Gaza classroom, the IDF used its most precise rocket yet to eliminate a Hamas terrorist, bringing in a scary yet important new era of surgical strikes.

In a school in southern Gaza, among desks and textbooks, Southern Command identified a Hamas terrorist hiding in a classroom a few weeks ago. "This is a highly sensitive area, and not just because of enemy activity," explains Major M., a company commander in Battalion 334 ("Thunder"). "That’s why the command sought the most precise way to strike the terrorist. And that’s where we come in, along with 'Bar.'"
Last year, the artillery battalion integrated the "Bar," a new and advanced guided rocket capable of locking onto a target with laser designation and destroying it: "The level of control over the strike is so precise that we can predetermine how many floors the 'Bar' will penetrate before detonating. This enables a surgical and sharp operation." This precision made it the ideal choice for the targeted mission.

The company started planning, analyzing the target, and selecting the exact point in the building, a process involving meticulous calculations, which are classified.
Once the target was set, the soldiers prepared for launch. Everyone involved joined a final synchronization call to confirm details. As the rocket was fired, they held their breath, anxiously tracking the result. The "Bar" hit the precise spot, neutralizing the target. The terrorist was eliminated.
"This was the first targeted elimination carried out with the Bar rocket," the company commander clarified. "It was a mission tailor-made for its capabilities."
The strike was broadcast live by the Air Force to the forward fire control center: "The moment of impact brought immense excitement. We’re proud of the strike’s success on a personal level and understand how critical this work is moving forward, for 334, for the corps, and for the IDF. In moments like these, the significance of our battalion’s operations is crystal clear."
