The United States military struck multiple Iranian military targets Tuesday evening, marking the second such operation within three days, according to U.S. Central Command. The strikes came in response to Iranian attacks on American vessels and forces in the region.

Central Command confirmed the operations targeted Iran's Revolutionary Guards but did not specify which facilities were hit. According to sources cited by The New York Times, the strikes included a military base in the city of Bandar Abbas and areas near the airport on Qeshm Island, where "significant damage" was reported.

President Donald Trump characterized the strikes as "large and powerful," stating they were carried out in response to Iranian attempts to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warned that any Iranian retaliation would be met with attacks "at a much higher level and intensity."

Iran's Revolutionary Guards threatened a "crushing" response and vowed to exact a "heavy price" from the United States. The Guards subsequently announced they had fired missiles toward bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates where American forces are stationed. Jordanian authorities reported intercepting eight missiles, while the UAE said its military responded to an Iranian drone. No casualties or damage were reported from these attacks.

The escalation follows attacks on two vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and an exchange of strikes between the U.S. and Iran on Sunday. Oil prices jumped approximately 4% following the renewed hostilities.
