Two senior Iranian officials, including a high-ranking member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, confirmed overnight Saturday to the New York Times that Iran is preparing to strike American diplomats and government officials. The two said Israel and the United States have killed dozens of senior Iranian figures and some of their family members, a fact that now makes Americans "legitimate targets" as well.
The report confirms an earlier Channel 12 News item from over the weekend, which said US intelligence is warning that Iran has "significantly escalated" its efforts to target American diplomats and senior officials in the Middle East and other regions, and that plans to assassinate them have reached "advanced stages", according to a memo sent to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Meanwhile, senior Iranian parliamentarian Ibrahim Azizi posted on X alongside an image of a map of Israel marked with strategic targets, writing: "One miscalculation is enough: the occupied territories will become uninhabitable in less than an hour."
