Chareidi party quits race day before vote

Central Elections Committee confirms withdrawal of Achi Movement list after all candidates submit resignations; ballots to be removed from polling stations

Chareidi Party Withdraws From Knesset Race Day Before Election

The Central Elections Committee announced Sunday that the "Achi Movement of Rav Yoram Aberjel zt"l" will not compete in the elections for the 26th Knesset after all candidates on the list submitted their resignations in accordance with the law.

The list, which was assigned the ballot letters "tzadi-bet-yud", will be removed from the voting system. Election officials have been instructed to ensure that the party's ballots are not distributed and do not appear in the ballot trays behind the voting booth curtain. The list's ballot will also be marked with an X on official posters and notices displaying approved ballot lists.

The committee clarified that these instructions apply to military polling stations as well, with appropriate adjustments.

The Central Elections Committee further emphasized that if ballots for the list are found in voting envelopes during vote counting, whether printed or handwritten, they will be considered invalid votes and will not be counted among valid votes. This directive applies also to votes already cast at Israeli diplomatic missions abroad and at IDF bases.
