Tragedy in Geva Binyamin: Infant Dies After Allegedly Choking on Plastic Bag
The community of Geva Binyamin is reportedly in shock following the news, with local social services providing support to the grieving family.

A heartbreaking incident occurred Wednesday morning in the community of Geva Binyamin (Adam), near Jerusalem, where a nine-month-old baby girl passed away after being found unconscious in her crib.
Family members discovered the infant was unresponsive and had not woken up from her sleep. Emergency services were immediately called to the home on Savion Street.
Paramedics from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived on the scene and found the infant without a pulse and not breathing. Rescuers performed extensive CPR at the home before rushing the infant to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem. Despite prolonged life-saving efforts by medical staff at the hospital, doctors were forced to pronounce her death shortly after arrival.
The Binyamin Station of the Judea and Samaria District Police has opened an official probe into the circumstances of the death.
In a statement, police confirmed that the preliminary investigation points toward accidental suffocation. Investigators are currently looking into how the plastic bag ended up in the crib and whether there was any negligence involved.
"From the initial investigation of the case, a concern arises that the infant choked on a bag that was in her bed," the police spokesperson stated. "The investigation is ongoing."
Safety organizations often warn that plastic bags, soft bedding, and small toys pose a severe suffocation hazard to infants under the age of one. This tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the vital importance of maintaining a "clear cot" policy, ensuring that nothing but a firm mattress and a fitted sheet are present in an infant's sleeping environment.
