Iran is reportedly trying to offer the Trump administration with multi-million dollar contracts in "peaceful" nuclear energy to ensure a deal which allows Iran to maintain its nuclear weapons program, according to a report today (Tuesday) by Channel 14 News.

According to Channel 14 reporter Tamir Morag, "Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi offered the Trump administration contracts worth tens of billions of dollars to build 19 nuclear reactors “for civilian purposes” in Iran."

Morag said that "Araghchi believes that Trump was and remains a businessman rather than a statesman, and therefore must be addressed in a language he understands. According to him, Iran can revitalize America’s ailing nuclear energy industry, but the conditions are: Iran’s independent uranium enrichment capability must be preserved, and its missile program and regional proxy support must remain outside the agreement."

Araghchi reportedly wrote these remarks in a speech he was scheduled to deliver via Zoom at a Carnegie think tank conference—an event that was canceled at the last minute.

Despite this, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu retweeted President Trump's summary of their phone call today, which focused primarily on Iran while saying "Thank you, President Trump!", a clear sign that Israeli fears of an Iran deal that's bad for Israel is not as likely as many fear.
